Back in the day

Although Richard M. Foxx, MD, better known as “Doc Foxx”, was originally trained as a gynecologic cancer surgeon and obsterician he is also an authority in Sports Medicine as well as Complimentary and Alternative Medicine.

Following his medical training in Philadelphia, Doc volunteered in the Army and served as Regimental Surgeon (combat) with the rank of Captain in the 6th Armored Cavalry Regiment training medics in the treatment of combat wounds.  He practiced in Newport Beach, CA, after his discharge and was twice elected Chairman of the Department at Hoag Memorial Hospital.

Doc is a former licensed navigator and amassed more than 50,000 miles and numerous trophies as a navigator on his own racing yacht, LUCKY PUFF, as well as on famous maxi yachts such as BLACKFIN and WINDWARD PASSAGE.  He has sailed across the Atlantic and Pacific, through the Mediterranean, in the Caribbean, the Sea of Cortez and in races along the California and Baja California coasts.

A lifelong horseman, Doc was a rated polo player for more than 20 years and is an accomplished roper and horse trainer.

When the US Open Polo Championship was held in the desert in 1987, Doc produced the video for FoxTV and was nominated for an Emmy.

Author of the supernatural murder mystery, SPIRIT RANCH, Doc’s writing has appeared in scores of medical and non-medical publications.  He is a sought after lecturer, nurse instructor and physician instructor.

Along with his beloved late wife, Jo, he founded THE MEDICAL AND SKIN SPA at Hyatt Grand Champions in Indian Wells, CA and was Medical Director for 13 years.  In addition to amassing many awards, THE MEDICAL AND SKIN SPA was named one of the eight great resort based medical spas in the world and was featured in every edition of 100 BEST SPAS OF THE WORLD.

Doc lives in Santa Fe, NM.

JoAnn is a Taurus, a horse warrior, a dog protector, and a powerful creative force. She is also a dynamite entrepreneur with years of business experience.

Although JoAnn is best known as the international buyer for the legendary Giorgio Beverly Hills boutique on Rodeo Drive during the 1990’s, she was the founder and CEO of Polo Promotions, a sports marketing company that she started in 1986. Polo Promotions marketed and produced the 1987 United States Open Polo Championship at Eldorado Polo Club outside of Palm Springs. JoAnn’s company went on to produce an international polo tournament at Eldorado in 1988 hosting Prince Andrew and Fergie to raise funds for the rebuilding of the Shakespeare Globe Theatre.

After graduating magna cum laude from the prestigious Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, JoAnn was hired by Giorgio Beverly Hills where she became the first woman on the Rodeo Drive Committee. As Giorgio’s international buyer for 13 years, she traveled the fashion capitals of the world and discovered designers such as Barney Chang (Hong Kong), Fause Haten (Brazil) and All About Eve (Paris) and produced several large runway shows on Rodeo Drive.

Along with her husband, JoAnn co-founded the multi-award winning Medical and Skin Spa in Indian Wells, California in 2003. In 2007 she started her own successful natural, organic skin care line, FoxxMD Evolutionary Skin Care.

JoAnn is an accomplished horsewoman, a barrel racer and a former polo player. She lives in the mountains of North County San Diego with her husband, Richard, her dog Sam, and Macarena, her Thoroughbred mare. JoAnn is active in several wild horse rescue programs throughout the West, is on the Community Planning Group for Valley Center and is a Director of Valley Center Western Days.
